Paul Basham Associates provided a number of services to support an application for the relocation of a Haulage Operating Centre to Lake Lane, Barnham from the existing centre in Littlehampton.
Paul Basham Associates were tasked with setting out the case for a Haulage Operating Centre on Lake Lane, Barnham. A Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence had been granted to the applicant, subject to planning permission and a new access road being approved by the local highway authority.
This project required close discussions with the client, to understand both their existing HGV movements from their Littlehampton facility, and how these would alter as a result of the new base of operations. A significant proportion of the client’s customers were already located along Lake Lane and to further complicate matters, the operator’s licence stipulated that vehicles were only allowed to turn right in/left out of Lake Lane, to avoid impacting upon a nearby level crossing.
Through careful analysis of the likely impacts upon the local road network, Paul Basham Associates successfully demonstrated that there would be no negative impact upon the local road network. Our Highway Design & Civil Engineering team ensured that the site access and internal layout were sufficient to accommodate HGV movements, as well as a full surface water drainage design.
Planning permission has been granted, with no objection from WSCC highways and unanimous approval at committee. The Section 278 drawings are to be submitted imminently, and we look forward to seeing another successful scheme implemented.
The consent allows our client to relocate, releasing his current site for a housing development for which Paul Basham Associates previously helped secure outline consent.
