Working for Elekta, an international clinical solutions firm making significant innovations in the treatment of cancer and brain disorders, Paul Basham Associates prepared a Workplace Travel Plan for their UK operations base in Manor Royal Business District near to Gatwick Airport.
With Linac House accommodating circa 750 employees, and with a recent consent to convert warehouse space into further Research and Development facilities, our team were commissioned to prepare the Travel Plan to discharge a planning condition on this application.
Paul Basham Associates liaised closely with Elekta’s facilities manager, ensuring that the Travel Plan prepared coordinated with the company’s existing ISO:14001 accreditation, Environmental Management and Green Transport Policies.
Completing an Accessibility Audit and a staff travel survey, Paul Basham Associates assessed cost-efficient opportunities to further encourage travel via sustainable modes and thereby reduce parking pressure and demand on site.
Journey origin mapping allowed for potential car-share partnerships to be established, whilst discounted shuttle bus services and consideration of improved cycle storage facilities all contributed to a strategy which West Sussex County Council highways accepted as suitable mitigation to discharge the condition.
With the condition successfully discharged, Elekta have continued to expand within Manor Royal to deliver their European Training Centre and enhanced R&D facilities.
