Paul Basham Associates assisted with the transport planning works for 6 dwellings following demolition of the existing care home on Forest Lane, Chippenham.
We were delighted to be instructed by Macniven Quays Ltd to prepare a Transport Statement inclusive of reviewing the proposed layout and providing vehicle tracking to support this residential development.
We initially undertook a site visit to appreciate the site and surroundings. Following this we completed an initial vehicle tracking exercise to enable early feedback on the layout to be provided, whilst concurrently writing our Transport Statement.
The site is currently a care home, which benefits from an extant consent for expansion and the Transport Statement therefore focused on comparing the proposed development with the consented position which presented as a net reduction in vehicular trips. This was particularly important given that Forest Lane is a shared surface route with significant footfall and used as route to school.
Assessment of the layout and design was an iterative process and therefore it was imperative feedback was provided swiftly to enable the site layout to be finalised and technical drawings issued for submission.
A subsequent Transport Note was also provided following the formal consultation stage to ensure all issues and concerns were addressed prior to determination.
Planning approval was granted in December 2019 and we look forward to revisiting the site in the future.
From our ClientThroughout the project, the team at Paul Basham Associates helped advise on a number of highways matters such as parking layout and assessment of the net development impact, which were dealt with expediently and effectively, helping achieve a positive outcome. Thank you for your valuable input.
