Oakhill Gardens, Swanmore

Working with David Wilson Homes on this allocated site, Paul Basham Associates provided support for a full application for 91 dwellings at Hillpound, Swanmore, Hampshire.

The brief

David Wilson Homes requested our team undertake the highway works required in order to support this site, allocated for development in Winchester’s Local Plan Part 2, through a full application including transport assessment works and assisting with the design of the layout from a highways perspective.

Our approach

We began by undertaking initial scoping works, commissioning traffic surveys and presenting at the public consultation before completing a Transport Assessment and full Travel Plan to support the application.

One of the key challenges for this site was designing suitable access arrangements to mitigate the impact of the development, given existing local concerns over safety along Hillpound. Our team demonstrated extensive knowledge of junction design, using modelling software and providing an independent review through a Road Safety Audit.

The result

The efforts of Paul Basham Associates resulted in the scheme receiving no objection on highways and work assisting the architect with the layout helped the team achieve a planning approval. Now under construction, this development is delivering desirable private and affordable homes in this Winchester village.
