Paul Basham Associates have recently assisted The Malins Group with transport planning support for a mixed-use regeneration project at the Carisbrooke Centre, Gosport.
Commissioned by The Malins Group, we were able to provide transport planning assistance for the mixed-use scheme from early pre-application engagement in 2016 with Gosport Borough Council highway officers to the granting of a full planning consent in May 2018.
Key to the successful delivery of the site was striking the balance of parking need for the two land uses and the servicing of the commercial units, whilst working within the largely retained precinct footprint.
Our initial works included liaison with the case officer, local highway officers and the architect to provide a suitable balance of parking for the site, which would ensure a suitable and safe access for all aspects of the development.
Following pre-application, Paul Basham Associates prepared a Transport Statement to support a full planning application including a successful case for lockable bollards/signage within the retail car park to ensure security for the residential aspect, whilst also improving the level of parking provision for the retail aspect.
Detailed trip generation (including linked trip assessment) and access arrangement sections further enhanced the suitability of the proposals and ultimately contributed towards a consent.
With approval granted for the site in May 2018, we are very much looking forward to seeing the regeneration of this local centre.
