Working on behalf of Southern Planning Practice and Cortium Sports for the use of land for competitive and international polo matches at Barfold Farm.
After the proposals to use land at Barfold Farm for competitive and international polo matches received a highways refusal, Paul Basham Associates were drafted in to overcome the highways objection using their expert highway knowledge.
In order to dispute Surrey County Council highways objections, our transport team provided trip rate information to refute the Local Authorities’ stance on increased vehicle movements and agreed offsite highway works (signage and antiskid marking) to reduce vehicle speeds to ensure visibility from the site access is safe and operational, whilst assisting in reducing accident rates in the site vicinity.
A speed survey and road safety audit was undertaken in order to inform the access design and required visibility measurements at the junction. We also negotiated cost-effective mitigation measures to overcome Surrey County Council concerns.
Our team managed to successfully overcome the highways objection prior to the appeal taking place with the site now holding polo matches regularly.
