UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT WITH ERVIS KOCI

Ervis is a Highway Engineer based in our Fareham office. Ervis has been working for Paul Basham Associates since 2015 and very soon will celebrate his 4 years anniversary working for the company. Today we are talking to Ervis to find out more about him and his role.

What does your job involve?

As a highway engineer my main responsibilities are to provide the design and also the documentation to support Section 278 and Section 184 applications. As part of the application process my role is to provide highway solutions, gather all the information and address all the queries and comments raised by various highway authorities to achieve Technical Approval.

What do you enjoy most about the role?

I would definitely say that solving problems is what I enjoy the most, and once the project has been finalised and built it gives a great satisfaction seeing the results.

What achievement are you most proud of since joining Paul Basham Associates?

My proudest moments are when receiving a positive feedback, whether this is from the clients or the councils that we work with. It is always appreciated when the high quality of the design and the attention in providing all the necessary details does not go unnoticed.

What challenges you each day?

Each day has different challenges depending on the project I am working on and also taking into account the different stages of each scheme. Each design is informed by different factors such as land restrictions, drainage solutions, visibility etc, so I am always looking for different ways to improve the design to better serve drivers and non-motorised users and ensure that a safe access can be provided.

What do you see for the future at Paul Basham Associates?

I can see a very bright future for the company. I have experience first-hand how the company has grown over the last few years with the opening of 3 new offices and the expansion of the civil engineering team, which is continuing to grow. These are very exciting times and I am sure that the future holds great things.

What do you get up to in your free time?

I am very passionate about technology, particularly electronics and computers. I like to spend my time reading about new technological innovations around the world. I also enjoy movies and am always keen to visit the cinema.
