Work Hard & Play Hard

In addition to the hard work that Paul Basham Associates put into every project, our ethos is to play hard too and we have been very active in the last few weeks taking part in a number of events along the south coast.

With the weather finally improving it seems like summer is on the way and Paul Basham Associates have been getting out and active along the south coast taking part in a number of events supporting local charities and having fun in the process.

First up Paul Basham Associates (with the help of Chris Knight from HGP Architects) took part in a 5-a-side football tournament arranged by the Bournemouth Property Association. It was a great afternoon but unfortunately our efforts weren't rewarded with a place in the finals. However with a new fitness regime aimed at getting us fitter and stronger, we will return next year to hopefully greater success.

To keep us on our toes the following weekend, Paul Basham Associates took part in the Romsey Relay Marathon at Broadlands Estate, organised by the Rotary Club and sponsored by Barratt Homes. Our team of runners completed two laps of a 1.3 mile circuit, running a grand total of 26 miles in 3 hours 58 minutes! Although our runners were unable to surpass Paul's individual marathon time (from which he was still recovering), we managed to walk away from the event in great spirits and motivated that we had supported another worthy charity

Last month we also had the chance to exercise our minds, with a charity quiz night hosted by Bryan Jezeph Consultancy in aid of Rowans Hospice. Our fantastic quiz team showed off their general knowledge skills, pulling out great trivia including 'which Frenchmen designed the Italian flag' and 'when was Blackpool Tower built'. However without any questions relating to transport planning the team were unable to pip Barratt Homes (whose team were supported by one of our own) to the crown.

Finally, the annual Touch Rugby tournament run by Lambert Smith Hampton was our fourth event within as many weeks. Paul Basham Associates drafted in a few summer signings from Thrive Architects and Ground and Water to support the quest for gold. Although this was not to be, the team produced some excellent displays in close games and scored some wonderful tries.
