Paul Basham Associates were pleased to assist 4Delivery and Southern Water on the redevelopment of the Woolston Wastewater Treatment Works in Southampton.
Having previously provided support on the original planning application, a tricky task which involved increasing the sewage capacity by 6000 homes whilst remaining functional to the existing homes, our civils team were asked to assist with the detailed off-site highway design for the site access improvements on the eastern bank of the River Itchen.
Paul Basham Associates carried out the detailed highway design for the site access and liaised with Southampton City Council to gain full technical approval. An existing shallow culvert located in the highway required careful consideration within the proposed design and landscaping was incorporated into the frontage. Running in parallel with the technical approval process, Paul Basham Associates liaised directly with the relevant statutory undertakers reading any utility diversion works.
In addition to all other works, vehicle tracking was required to demonstrate the movement of large delivery vehicles with extra wide loads, through the narrow residential streets in the Woolston area.
Negotiated full technical approval for the S278 Highway Works with the construction of the highway works to begin in the near future.
We recently visited the site and are pleased with its progression so far.
