Paul Basham Associates will provide your launching pad to a successful career in Civil Engineering; you will be on your way to flourish with the company's continued growth from our existing and future offices. The role involves working alongside a diverse team of Transport Planners, Civil Engineers, and Structural Engineers. 

Over the 5 year programme, you will be working towards a Level 6 qualification through the University of Portsmouth whilst gaining consultancy skills as you support the technical and project management of a diverse range of projects within an expanding Civil Engineering team. As an SME your direct exposure to clients, site visits and meetings will be matched by opportunities for input into the company operations such as marketing, finance and development.

Overview

  • Gain exposure to several different areas of engineering such as drainage and highways across all project stages (pre-planning, planning and construction)
  • Support the Civil Engineering team with the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes across a variety of sectors which include Residential, Commercial, and Education.
  • Develop and build skills in report writing, detailed design, and 3D modelling through on the job training and hands-on experience.
  • Attend site visits.
  • Attend internal and external meetings.
  • Use software packages such as AutoCAD and Site3D. 
  • Gain regular exposure to developers, architects and local authorities.  
  • Learn engineering calculations and techniques, and understand how to apply them.
  • Gain an understanding of the safety implications of the role.
  • Learn the ethical issues that may arise in your role and understand how to carry out your responsibilities in an ethical manner.
  • Learn the principles of sustainable development and apply them in work.

Qualifications & Experience Required

No experience is required for this position, but applications are welcome from those with relevant experience.  

In order to be successfully enrolled onto the Degree Apprenticeship course, you must meet the entry requirements by possessing at least one of the following: 

  • UCAS points: 112-120 points from 2 or 3 A levels (or equivalent) including a relevant subject.
  • A levels: BBB-BBC, including a relevant subject.
  • T-levels: Merit in a relevant subject.
  • BTECs (Extended Diplomas): DDM-DMM in a relevant subject.
