Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil & Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to support a wide variety of Engineering work in an expanding team.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • A minimum of 4+ years' of consultancy experience
  • A degree or HND in Civil Engineering
  • Working towards ICE professional accreditation.
  • Drainage Strategy & Detailed Design experience (including SuDS)
  • Experienced user of InfoDrainage (and/or MicroDrainage) or Causeway Flow
  • Experienced in the preparation of technical reports (e.g. Flood Risk Assessments)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software
  • Highways design experience (S278, S38)
  • Representing the company at in-person and virtual project meetings

Desirable:

  • Experience working on multi-phase residential development projects
  • Civil Engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works and highways elements
  • Experience assisting with the preparation of fee proposals
  • Experience in client management
  • Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge
  • Experience in managing budgets and resource on projects
  • Construction stage package development

Duties

  • Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.
  • Work in a project office that is shared with the client and has regular presence from architects, other consultants and local authorities.
  • Undertake design work for:
    • Drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations, and the SuDS Manual.
    • On and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets.
  • Support the writing of Fee Proposals.
  • Have responsibility for being project manager on designated projects.
  • Be responsible for producing consistent high-quality drawing packages.
  • Aid in the reviewing of work produced by more junior members of the team.
  • Provide developmental support to junior team members.
  • Manage resource to support the completion of appropriate project work tasks.
  • Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects, and local authorities.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Site3D or equivalent 3D software.
  • Have knowledge of and willing to learn other engineering software.
