Principal Transport Planner

Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to support a wide variety of projects in an expanding team.

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
• Membership of relevant professional organisation
• 7+ years’ transport planning experience
• Ability to demonstrate practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
• Knowledge and application of national design guidance
• Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks
• Ability to work on own initiative

• Project manage schemes, including budget and time management
• Write, check and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes.
• Good understanding or modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
• Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate
• Experience in preparing appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground and Proof of Evidence
• Attendance as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries
• Client liaison and management
• Assist with training and mentoring junior members of staff 
• Prepare, check and issue fee proposals and tenders
• Engage in, and identify, Business Development opportunities including networking events
• Develop and inform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and team strategies
• Line management responsibility including holding appraisals
