Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to support a wide variety of projects in an expanding team.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
- Membership of professional organisation
- At least 7 years Transport Planning experience
- Extensive Transport Planning experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
- Experience in managing/training members of staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks
- Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes
- Ability to work on own initiative
Role Specific Requirements
- Write, check and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes
- Good understanding or modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
- Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate
- Experience in preparing appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground and Proof of Evidence
- Attendance as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries
- Project manage schemes, including budget and time management
- Client liaison and management
- Assist with training and mentoring members of staff to support their career development
- Attend, contribute and lead towards meetings as appropriate
- Prepare, check and issue fee proposals and tenders
- Engage in, and identify, Business Development opportunities including networking events
- Develop and inform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and team strategies
- Line management responsibility including holding appraisals
