Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil & Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to support a wide variety of Engineering work in an expanding team.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5+ years' of consultancy experience
  • A degree or HND in Civil Engineering
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) [or working towards/at an equivalent level of] with the Institution of Civil Engineers
  • Drainage Strategy & Detailed Design experience (including SuDS)
  • Experienced user of InfoDrainage (and/or MicroDrainage), and Causeway Flow with the ability to train others in the software
  • Experienced in the preparation and checking of technical reports (I.e. Flood Risk Assessments)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Site3D or equivalent 3D software
  • Civil Engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works and highways elements
  • Experience in client management
  • Representing the company at in-person and virtual project meetings
  • Highways design experience (S278, S38)
  • Construction stage package development

Desirable:

  • Line management experience
  • Experience providing on-site support (I.e. Utilities Coordination, Liaising with Contractors, and addressing site queries)
  • Experience working on multi-phase residential development projects
  • Experience preparing fee proposals
  • Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge
  • Business development experience

Role Specific Requirements

  • Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes.
  • Work in a project office, that is shared with the client and has regular presence from architects, other consultants, and local authorities. 
  • Undertake and manage team resource for design work for:
    • Drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations and the SuDS Manual.
    • On and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets.
  • Be responsible for writing fee proposals.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software.
  • Have knowledge of and willing to learn other engineering software.
  • Reviewing of junior team members reports, design, and drawing work.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits.
  • Co-operate with the Quality Management System (QMS) through undertaking administrative activities.
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff.
  • Support our regional offices and other departments through knowledge sharing and provision of resource where required.
