Paul Basham Associates is a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for either a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to support a wide variety of projects in an expanding team.

Skills & Experience Required

Senior Transport Planner:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Membership of relevant professional organisation
  • 5+ years’ transport planning experience
  • Knowledge and application of national design guidance
  • Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks

Principal Transport Planner:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Membership of relevant professional organisation
  • 7+ years’ transport planning experience
  • Extensive Transport Planning experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
  • Experience in managing/training members of staff
  • Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks

Role Specific Requirements

Senior Transport Planner:

  • Project manage schemes, including budget and time management
  • Write, check, and on occasion approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes
  • Complete/review/approve planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs, etc.
  • Utilise modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
  • Prepare appeal documentation including Statement of Case and Statement of Common Ground
  • Client/officer liaison and management
  • Assist with training junior members of staff
  • Attendance at Public Consultation events, project team/client meetings, appeal meetings & Local Highway Authority meetings
  • Prepare fee proposals and tenders

Principal Transport Planner:

  • Project manage schemes, including budget and time management
  • Write, check and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes.
  • Utilise modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
  • Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate
  • Prepare appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground and Proof of Evidence
  • Attendance as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries
  • Client liaison and management
  • Prepare, check and issue fee proposals and tenders
  • Engage in, and identify, Business Development opportunities including networking events
  • Develop and inform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and team strategies
  • Line management responsibility including holding appraisals
  • Winning work for the team
