Paul Basham Associates were appointed to develop a flexible Site Wide Travel Plan for a partially occupied commercial site, supporting existing businesses while promoting sustainable travel for all current and future occupants.
The Proposal
Paul Basham Associates were instructed to deliver both the Travel Planning and Travel Plan Coordination obligations for a large-scale business park located to the north of Havant, Hampshire.
The Approach
At the time of appointment 4 of the 8 built commercial units were already occupied, therefore our initial task was to work with these companies to produce a Site Wide Travel Plan that was not only general enough to support future occupations on site, but also explained each occupants own sustainable travel initiatives.
Since then we have produced individual Travel Plan Technical Notes for the more recent occupants that fit with the Site Wide document, produced Welcome Packs for each of the occupied units, produced site wide sustainable travel promotional material and completed the first site wide monitoring programme. We are also providing personalised travel planning, following the implementation of double yellow line parking restrictions on site.
Outcome
We have worked closely with Hampshire County Council’s Travel Plan team to agree a suitable strategy for the development that enables practical delivery of the Travel Plan obligations whilst acknowledging the multiple companies involved on the site. This sees us move into Year 1 of delivering the Travel Plan with 6 occupants now on site.
