Coxbridge Farm, Farnham

Paul Basham AssociatesĀ supported Vivid Homes with the application for 320 dwellings on a site on the outskirts of Farnham.

The Proposal

Paul Basham Associates were tasked with producing a coherent transport strategy to support an outline planning application of 320 dwellings. Given the site location on the edge of the settlement, one of the key challenges was delivering opportunities to enhance active travel and public transport connectivity to the centre of Farnham approximately 1km to the north east.

Our Approach

Following initial exploratory design, pre-application discussions were progressed with Surrey County Council Highways Department. Principally, the aim was to agree on the details and form of the access, the extent of off-site highway works required to deliver connectivity improvements, as well as agree the parameters for modelling of the highway impact.

Once the principles were agreed, a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan were prepared, and the design of the access / off site highway works was progressed. Public consultation assisted in the development of the proposals and integrating them into the local area as best as possible. Once submitted, there was further liaison with the highway authority in relation to the details of the pedestrian infrastructure and provision of improved bus stops at the site frontage, culminating in the highways officers being content with the proposals.

The Outcome

The scheme received consent in the Summer of 2023, and following the sale of the site, a Reserved Matters application is imminent.
