Paul Basham Associates were approached by our client Strutt & Parker to assist a private landowner in bringing forward an application for 47 dwellings at Sheepstead Road in Marcham, an extension to the north of the Kings Field development.
The Brief
Strutt & Parker instructed Paul Basham Associates on behalf of the landowner to assist with the highways works required for an outline application for 47 dwellings. The application site is accessed via Harding Way which is part of a newly built development to the south.
Our Approach
Our initial approach was to complete a site visit to establish the extent of the Kings Field development and ensure that what was on the ground reflected the approved plans in terms of access widths and alignments, before assessing the proposed site layout with respect to service vehicle tracking and visibility. Our appraisal was then fed back to the project team regarding potential alterations and improvements that could be made – most notably to turning heads for refuse vehicle access. With these taken on board, we progressed with writing our Transport Statement to support the scheme from a highways perspective.
The Result
As a result of our original work and additional discussions with the Oxfordshire County Council Highways, the scheme was granted planning permission in August 2017. We have since revisited the site and were pleased to see that a significant number of dwellings have been completed, with more than half the site now constructed and occupied.
From our client
“Paul Basham Associates identified solutions to a number of transport-related issues with our proposed residential development in a timely and commercially-minded manner. We were thoroughly impressed with the service provided and will continue to work with Paul Basham Associates on future projects.”
