Wimblington Road, Doddington

The proposed development included detailed discussions with CCC Highway Authority regarding the site access junction and the provision of a right turn lane T-Junction which was required to consider the existing constraints of another right turn lane T-Junction and layby. Following discussions with CCC Highway Authority a site access design was agreed to be safe and suitable with a Stage 1 Road Safety Audit submitted alongside a Transport Statement to support the planning application.

The Proposal

Paul Basham Associates were instructed to support a residential application comprising nine dwellings with 21 associated parking spaces, at 3 Wimblington Road, Doddington, Cambridgeshire.

The Approach

Our approach involved extensive discussions with CCC Highway Authority regarding a proposed right turn lane site access design, with a focus on the incorporation of the site access into the existing highway considering the local constraints to ensure a safe and suitable access was provided.  A Transport Statement was provided detailing the sustainability of the site, the proposed access and parking arrangements including swept path analysis (vehicle tracking) of the site access and internal arrangement and the forecast impact on the local highway network. Furthermore, a Stage 1 Road Safety Audit was undertaken which was provided alongside the Transport Statement to support the planning application.

The Result

We are pleased to announce that the residential development was granted consent in April 2025 with no highway objections. We look forward to seeing this development built out.
