Supporting Highwood Group, Paul Basham Associates provided Reserved Matters transport planning works for the reserved matters application for a 60-bed care home at Abbotswood, Romsey.
The brief
The site, part of a wider development for 800 residential dwellings, achieved outline planning consent in January 2010. Paul Basham Associates were commissioned to complete the Reserved Matters transport works for the associated 60-bed care home. Works included a Transport Statement, a Travel Plan and assistance with meeting the BREEAM criteria.
Our approach
Considering the parameters agreed through the outline planning application Paul Basham Associates support for the Reserved Matters application included a Transport Statement covering the specifics of access design, car parking layout, refuse strategy and visibility splays.
We supported the BREEAM Assessment ‘Very Good’ requirements for the site by producing a BREEAM compliant Travel Plan to support the sustainable merits of the development. The Travel Plan has to consider the requirements of residents, visitors and staff of the care homes and how the site connects to the wider Abbotswood development.
The result
The site was granted planning permission in Summer 2014 and opened a year later in Summer 2015.
