INF4A - Welborne Mile SANG Foul Pumping Station

Paul Basham Associates provide ongoing Civil Engineering and Transport Planning support to Welborne Land Ltd for Welborne Garden Village - a new generation sustainable garden village in Hampshire; a community for 15,000 people to live, work and play, consisting of connected and energy efficient homes, integrated with extensive publicly accessible green space.

The Brief

The INF4A package features a foul pumping station and rising main serving ~300 dwellings in Phase 1 of the development, and adjusted landscaping of the north-west surface water attenuation basin (approved as part of INF4) to improve its aesthetic and function as an amenity feature. This package also consisted of adjustments to the adjacent proposed bridleway and haul road. Our remit was to provide Civil Engineering and Transport Planning support for the Reserved Matters application and to continue to provide construction stage support during the build programme.

Our Approach

To support the Reserved Matters application a comprehensive drawing and report package was completed including General Arrangements, Standard construction details, cross-sections and a supporting technical note. We also prepared a Construction Traffic Management Plan (CTMP) to support the CEMP.

For the technical/mechanical design of the pump station we worked in tandem with a specialist design consultant to produce the final design. We closely coordinated with the Client and their Landscape Architect to meet the vision for the adjustments to the surface water attenuation basin and adjacent amenity area and bridleway. During validation, we were requested to produce a schematic type plan which incorporated technical and landscaping elements to aid with context and understanding of the scheme.

Once consent was received, we produced a detailed tender pack and subsequent construction package. This package included detailed design drawings developing on from the application pack and additional construction stage required drawings such as setting-out and construction details.

The Result

The Reserved Matters application was consented. We subsequently followed with tender and construction design packs ready for the build.
