Paul Basham Associates provide ongoing Civil Engineering and Transport Planning support to Welborne Land Ltd for Welborne Garden Village - a new generation sustainable garden village in Hampshire; a community for 15,000 people to live, work and play, consisting of connected and energy efficient homes, integrated with extensive publicly accessible green space.
The Brief
The Welborne Village Centre will provide essential facilities and amenities including provision for a primary school, GP surgery, pharmacy, pub/hotel, and a diverse retail space. Paul Basham Associates were tasked with supporting the Reserved Matters by preparing the necessary Civil Engineering and Transport Planning packs.
Our Approach
Our planning support encompassed the development of a comprehensive Civil Engineering pack, including detailed strategies for highways, drainage, utilities, and levels. Central to this was the design of a roundabout linking Dashwood Avenue to Welborne Way, two key infrastructure roads within the development. Additionally, our Transport Planning pack featured a construction traffic management plan and a public transport strategy. We prioritized sustainability by integrating green space, provisions for EV chargers, and porous pavement to enhance water quality.
Throughout the project, we conducted workshops and collaborated closely with the client and the wider team to ensure all aspects and disciplines were thoroughly considered. Addressing planning comments, we engaged in discussions with Hampshire Highways to finalize and agree on various critical highway design elements.
The Result
Planning consent was achieved and we are now progressing towards S38 approval for the adoptable roads, and producing detailed design drawing packs for Construction.
