We caught up with Assistant Transport Planner Eleanor Geary who joined us in July 2022 as part of Paul Basham Associates' Graduate intake for 2022-23. Here's what a typical day looks like for her.
"I joined Paul Basham Associates in July 2022 whilst finishing my Master’s degree at the University of Portsmouth. I was part of the Graduate Training Programme alongside three other graduates which provided me with key training tools for Transport Planning, as well as working on several projects across a variety of sectors; including Residential, Student Accommodation and Care Homes. On top of this I have since started to project manage and have aided on numerous Travel Plan Coordination (TPC) sites across the South Coast.
A normal day would start with making a list of work which I may have from the week or day before, followed by checking my emails for any new work or updates to current projects. I will then consolidate this into a list of tasks for the day and week, numbering them based on deadlines. I will also ensure I have checked our Travel Plan inbox for any emails which may have come in from residents for any of the TPC jobs I manage or assist on.
As well as my work within the office, I enjoy attending site visits for both TPC and other projects, enabling me to grasp a better understanding of the site I am working on.
In January 2024 I was promoted to Assistant Transport Planner! This is an exciting next step in my career and I look forward to developing my skills and knowledge further."
