How long have you worked at Paul Basham Associates?: I started with Paul Basham Associates in January of this year having moved from West Sussex Council.

What does your job involve?: As an Associate, I manage a number of transport planning projects, ranging from small scale 'infill' developments through to larger residential and commercial sites, taking them from concept through to delivery. The other half of my role involves promoting the business to new and existing clients in the private and public sector.

What do you enjoy most about your role?: Working with a wide range of people, sometimes with competing interests, to achieve the right outcomes for the client and ultimately deliver development, whether that's a single dwelling in someone's garden or larger strategic sites which support local improvements.

What challenges you each day?: I like working with people, identifying solutions and being able to make a positive difference for those I work with. The challenge is to make the most of those opportunities.

What achievement are you most proud of since joing PBA?: The culture and individuals all share the same ambition, to build lasting relationships - I get a real buzz from being part of that. So being able to introduce new clients to a business which has a shared set of values, is something to be proud of. 

What advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in transport planning?: Being a consultant in the transport planning industry presents variety and challenges, and if you're someone who embraces creative thinking, knowledge sharing and ultimately a sense that you've helped others, then this is a role you strongly consider.
