Paul Basham Associates supported Palace Green Homes on a successful planning application for the redevelopment of the former Paradise Pools centre to 13 dwellings in Ely, East Cambridgeshire.
The Brief
Having supported the project team with initial design and advised on the impact of the proposed development on the local highway network we then engaged with local highway authority Cambridgeshire County Council.
Sustainability and the relationship to nearby parking areas were key considerations to the design of the scheme along with vehicle access and servicing of the site. Paul Basham Associates prepared a Transport Statement and Travel Plan to support the planning submission to East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The Travel Plan identified key routes to nearby services and put forward a strategy to encourage future residents of the site to travel by sustainable modes.
The Approach
Having undertaken pre-application discussions with the local highway authority Paul Basham Associates undertook swept path analysis to ensure that the site could be accessed by the necessary service vehicles.
A trip generation assessment was also undertaken to assess the impact of the proposed development on the local road network, whilst the parking strategy identified that sufficient parking would be available as part of the proposals.
The Result
Following a positive response to the planning application form the highway authority the scheme was granted permission in October 2021, and we look forward to work starting on this site.
