Paul Basham Associates have been involved in this project from inception to completion. We were involved in early layout development and more recently supporting a Reserved Matters application for the highways and drainage elements.
The Brief
The site previously operated as a haulage yard and received outline planning permission (detailed for access). Our involvement in the RM stage included reviewing the the details of the site layout. This included reviewing internal road alignments, the allocation and distribution of parking, refuse and emergency vehicle access and addressing highway conditions and S106 requirements. In addition, a detailed drainage strategy, finished floor levels and an onsite highways design was required.
Our Approach
Through working closely with the Savills planning team and Boyle and Summers Architects, we developed a scheme that not only met highways requirements and adhered to Manual for Streets principles but also provided a high quality and attractive design with integrated Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) features.
We prepared a Reserved Matters Transport Assessment and Full Travel Plan detailing a proposed strategy to reduce the number of single occupancy vehicle trips from the site and encourage sustainable travel. In addition, we also completed the full suite of drainage, levels and highway design drawings.
With the site access proposed onto the A259, we worked closely with the local Highway Authority to develop a Section 278 right-turn lane scheme that adhered to the Council’s own aspirations of dualling this route through Littlehampton.
The Result
Dandara completed tis development, supporting delivery of homes on a brownfield site. The access, on-site roads and drainage all work in harmony to deliver an attractive development.
