Paul Basham Associates were tasked with supporting Churchill Retirement Living to provide a 37no. unit Retirement Living lodge at the Former Fareham Magistrates Court.
The Brief
Upon instruction, we undertook a site visit to understand how the former magistrates court was accessed and to understand the opportunities and constraints associated with the local network. Consideration was given to the proposed access arrangements, given that the site is situated on a one-way system.
Our Approach
Initial works undertaken were to provide the site with an ‘In’ from Trinity Streetand the ‘Out’ through the Trinity Street Car Park to the north. Through the application however, this was revised with a two-way working access now provided onto Trinity Street.
A Transport Statement was prepared to support the application, which considered the proposals in more detail. Assessments were made with regard to parking provisions, trip generation and impact and servicing arrangements.
Client specific data was utilised to inform the development proposals, ensuring that the needs of the end users was met, without prejudicing the local area.
The Result
The application was approved in April 2022 and with the site just a short distance from our Southern office, we are pleased to see the progress being made daily.
