Paul Basham Associates provided the full package of transport planning works for this application for 9 retirement apartments and a 65 bed care home in Netley, Hampshire.
The Brief
This application to redevelop a run-down vacated school into a modern care complex underwent rigorous scrutiny from local residents and the planning committee due to its location within a cherished conservation area.
Our approach
The sensitive and popular backdrop naturally took traffic impact and parking provision to the top of the local agenda as the project team carefully steered a sympathetic scheme through the planning process.
A Transport Statement assessed the scheme’s impact on the local road network, while the site’s accessibility by non-car travel was supported through a site specific Travel Plan, and secured new footways to the bus stop and a pedestrian crossing which formed part of wider off-site highway works including parking laybys on Victoria Road for the public. These works were carefully designed through close consultation with Hampshire County Council.
The Result
Having been built and occupied, Paul Basham Associates recently visited the site and were pleased to see the footways and pedestrian crossing being used.
